Brazilian football legend Ronaldo de Assis Moreira, more popularly known as Ronaldinho, is reportedly set to sign with a Chinese Super League club or a Major League Soccer squad for the final stint of his illustrious 18-year career, according to his brother and agent who talked to the media last Friday.

Xinhuanet indicated that "the 36-year-old former Barcelona star has not played competitively since ending a disappointing two-month spell with Rio de Janeiro outfit Fluminense last September" and "Brazilian clubs had been 'ruled out' of the reckoning for the playmaker's next move", as per Roberto Assis, Ronaldinho's brother and manager.

"The probable destination for him is Major League Soccer in the US or the Chinese Super League," Assis told local Brazilian reporters late last week.

Ronaldinho, who had won two La Liga titles and one Champions League trophy during his stay with FC Barcelona from 2003-2004 to 2007-2008, is currently a free agent and could decide to sign with any club he wishes to play for.

The Chinese Super League had been aggressive in signing big-name primed players during the last winter transfer window and although the two-time FIFA World Player of the Year awardee is already way past his prime, he is still considered as one of the most popular football players of all-time and would be a huge crowd drawer in the Chinese domestic top flight if ever.

Chinese clubs had shown in the recent windows that they can afford to splash cash on big-time players as Alex Teixeira (Jiangsu Suning), Jackson Martinez (Guangzhou Evergrande), Ramires (Jiangsu Suning), and Elkeson (Shanghai SIPG) have all broken the country's transfer records last winter.

Meanwhile, "MLS is home to recent high-profile signings" as well, as noted by SkySports, including Ronaldinho's former Brazil international teammate Kaka, who currently suits up for Orlando City, and Andrea Pirlo and Frank Lampard, who both plays for New York City FC.
