U.S. Open: Caroline Wozniacki’s Racket Tangles With Hair during Second-Round Match

Tenth-seeded Caroline Wozniacki got her hair all tangled up on her racket during her second-round match up against qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the U.S. Open on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old Wozniacki chased a ball to smash a forehand return when the arm of her racket got wrapped up on her ponytail which caused her to miss a double-handed backhand return.

"It was really tangled up good. I think all my hair would have come off first before that was going anywhere," said Wozniacki.

The Danish star said that it usually happens when she has her hair long and that she didn't braid it.

"Once it gets to a certain length sometimes it can get stuck in the arm or the racket," Wozniacki added.

But it was a first for her since she wore her hair in a ponytail during the match and that it still got tangled up on the arm of her racket.

The incident did not bother Wozniacki much as she went on to win the match, 6-3, 6-4 in an hour and 21 minutes.

Despite the hair-tangling experience, she was able to limit her unforced errors to 15 and converted 100 percent of break point opportunities.

The 2009 U.S. Open finalist Wozniacki is through to the third round and will be facing German Andrea Petkovic en route to a possible Maria Sharapova encounter in the fourth round.

Wozniacki will be competing in the New York City Marathon scheduled on the first Sunday of November. The annual marathon is the largest in the world with over 50,000 participants last year alone.

She was asked by reporters if the marathon would affect her training in tennis.

"No, I only think it can help," Wozniaki answered. "The training has been working really well for me ... it hasn't hurt my tennis at all."
