Recent trade rumors have emerged that the Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls could pull off a stunning trade involving their point guards D'Angelo Russell and Derrick Rose this coming offseason.

The Lakers are headed to a third straight playoff-less season as superstar Kobe Bryant sets sail onto the sunset for his final few games as a Laker and in the middle of that is a moral drama created by the 20-year-old point guard out of Ohio State.

Russell said to have accidentally made public a video showing teammate Nick Young talking about infidelity against the latter's fiancée, Australian rapper Iggy Azalea, which have caused much distrust within the Lakers' locker room.

The "taping incident" is said to be "a new low for the reliably dysfunctional Lakers", according to The Guardian, and could be damaging not only the players' relationships amongst themselves but also the brand and reputation of the 16-time NBA Champion team itself.

Several NBA pundits were suggesting that the Lakers should trade Russell as soon as possible to avoid further damage, but there are no indications that the Hollywood squad is ready to do that at this point.

With that, CSN Chicago's Mark Schanowski suggested the Bulls to offer former league MVP and injury-prone Derrick Rose to the Lakers in exchange for last year's second overall pick, Russell, as a way to improve Fred Hoiberg's current ineffective roster.

Schanowski said that "if Lakers' management decides Russell has done too much damage to bring him back into their locker room, the Bulls might have the unique opportunity to improve the roster on multiple fronts".

Trading Rose for Russell at this time would spare the Bulls of the anticipated drama when he becomes an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2017 and will give them a young floor general with a lot of upside.

Meanwhile, the Lakers get a proven superstar, albeit likely to get injured anytime, but he could "welcome the challenge of succeeding Kobe Bryant as the featured star in Laker Land", Schanowski noted.
