It's official. Melissa McCarthy will reprise her role as Sookie St. James in Netflix's upcoming Gilmore Girls reboot.

After weeks of rumors and speculations, McCarthy revealed on Ellen that she is going to be returning tp the cast of the show.

"There has something I've been asked about so, so many times, and it hasn't worked out. They're making four new movies of the Gilmore Girls, which is a show that was near and dear to my heart for four years, and we could not get those schedules to work," the 45-year-old told DeGeneres. "There was a whole thing, and then I was going to be out of the country, and literally about an hour and a half ago, we figured out that I'm going to go back and do it, and I am so excited! They're going to be amazing."

McCarthy played the role of Lorelai Gilmore's (Lauren Graham) BFF in the original series throughout the seven seasons and will continue to play the role of the beloved chef in the much-anticipated four-episode reboot as well.

McCArthy will join a long list of retuning castmembers, which includes Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson, Kelly Bishop, Jared Padelecki, Milo Ventigmilia, Matt Czuchry, David Sutcliffe, Sean Gunn, Keiko Ageno, Liza Weil and Yanic Truesdale.

Shortly after Gilmore Girls was announced, the 'Mike & Molly" star took to Twitter to say that she was not invited to be a part of the Netflix show. "[S]adly no one asked me or Sookie to come back to Stars Hollow. Wish them all the best!!" she tweeted in February.

However, the show's creator Amy Sherman-Palladino said in an interview that she had, in fact, approached McCarthy but her busy schedule did not allow for it.

"She's really f---ing busy," Sherman-Palladino told TVLine. "[Sookie] was a character we knew we could not count on in terms of story, because [McCarthy] just simply wouldn't have that sort of time to carve out for us."
