Central Intelligence co-stars Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart are in talks to star in Sony Pictures' upcoming Jumanji remake.

The pair, who had a successful stint as co-hosts of the 2016 MTV Movie Awards, are in negotiations to feature in the new movie and are reportedly nearing a deal, which is likely to be finalized once the actors' schedules are worked out.

Johnson and Hart are two of the busiest stars in the industry. The only available opening Johnson has is before filming for the third season of his HBO show Ballers begins. The spot opened up after Rampage was pushed back to 2017.

The San Andreas actor is also scheduled to shoot for Fast 8 this summer, while Hart is occupied with The Intouchables remake, which also stars Bryan Cranston. The Jumanji remake is expected to start production this August in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Jake Kasdan, whose credits include Bad Teacher and Sex Tape, will direct the film from a script written by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. The script will be inspired by an original draft penned by the Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.

The film, like the original, will be an adaptation of Chris Van Allsburg's 1985 book, which centers on a magical board game, in which a boy gets trapped and is released 26 years later when the game is played again, causing jungle flora and fauna to come to life and take over a quiet American suburb.

The original 1995 film starred Robin Williams in the lead role alongside Bonnie Hunt, Kirsten Dunst, Bradley Pierce, Jonathan Hyde, Bebe Neuwirth, David Alan Grier and Patricia Clarkson.

The film is slated to hit theaters on July 28, 2017.
