The upcoming major Windows 10 upgrade, the Redstone 2, is expected to arrive for users by the summer of 2016 as the "Windows 10 Anniversary Update."

The Surface Pro 5 is expected to come with an improved battery life, better than the Surface Pro 4, which has been plagued with battery drainage issues. Rumors have it that the Surface Pro 5 will come with a 7th gen Intel Kaby Lake processor instead of the Skylake chipset which powers the Surface Pro 4. The new chipset is said to improve the new device's battery life.

The Surface Pro 5 could also sport a 13.3-inch display with 4K resolution, a fingerprint scanner, USB-Type C slot and a rechargeable magnetic Surface Pen stylus which comes with a Surface Dock to keep it from being misplaced when not in use.

A Microsoft patent application includes "a charging circuit within the stylus [that] may provide charging current for recharging the battery." Other reports claim that the Surface Pro 5 and the Windows 10 Redstone 2 update may not be launched until 2017 because their development process could take longer.

Microsoft has not released any details about the Surface Pro 5 development and these updates should be taken with a grain of salt.
