The Denver Nuggets are reportedly contemplating on dealing their young center, Jusuf Nurkic, this summer as the teams plans to upgrade their roster with the intention of entering the playoffs next season.

While there is no doubt that the 21-year-old Bosnian is one of many quality young talents in the lineup of head coach Mike Malone as of the moment, it is also undeniable that the team badly needs an upgrade if they want to go back to being one of the most prominent teams in the rugged Western Conference.

Starting point guard Emmanuel Mudiay just finished his rookie season and starting center Nikola Jokic has also completed his first year in the league despite being selected in the second round of the 2014 draft, which signals the beginning of a new era in Denver.

However, it seems like Malone is preferring Jokic over the sophomore Nurkic moving forward as the coach used the latter as a backup for the Serbian big man in most of the recently concluded 2015-2016 regular season.

ESPN indicated that the Nuggets "will likely talk to all teams about possible deals" in the summer and one who is most likely to be traded this offseason for a full roster upgrade would be the former KK Cedevita standout.

Malone actually had no choice but use Nurkic as Jokic's backup this season because of the former's recurring knee issues. Nurkic had just returned from a knee surgery before the season started and so he was utilized for only 32 games this year, starting three.

With that, the 7-foot Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina native averaged only a shade above 17 minutes of playing time per game, producing dismal numbers of 8.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game averages.

The Denver Post's Christopher Dempsey noted that "if he (Nurkic) is not going to be the starting center, and if the Nuggets don't want to play both him and Jokic at the same time, perhaps he becomes more valuable to them in potential trades".

There are no reports yet of who will be Denver's potential trade partner if ever moving Nurkic will actually push through.
