Well-Known Sports Figures Make Time Magazine’s 'Most Influential' List for the Year 2016

Sports celebrities are prevailing on Time Magazine's list of "Most Influential People in the World."

The American weekly news magazine revealed the list of its most influential men and women all around the globe for the year 2016 on Thursday morning.

The reigning MVP of the National Basketball Association and Golden State Warriors superstar guard Stephen Curry was on the list. Curry led the record-setting Western Conference Pacific division team to a 73-9 record and cemented the record for the most wins in an NBA season.

The three-time All-Star has been dominant on the hard wood. He achieved a shooting milestone of becoming the first NBA player to make 400 three-pointers in a season and became the seventh player in the league's history to join the 50-40-90 club.

2015 Masters Tournament Jordan Spieth also made the list. The 22-year-old American professional golfer has tied Tiger Wood's 72-hole record and became the second youngest winner to win the Masters, behind Woods. The 2016 Hyundai Tournament of Champions is the reigning champion of the U.S. Open.

Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, who is regarded as the fastest man ever timed, is also on the prestigious list. The track star holds both the 100 meters and 200 meters world records. The "Lightning Bolt" is expected to compete in the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

American mixed martial artist Ronda Rousey is also a part of the list. The UFC icon was voted in an ESPN poll as the Best Female Athlete Ever. She was the third most searched person on Google in 2015.

WTA's world No. 1 women doubles player Sania Mirza of India also made the list. The tennis ace has 3.6 million followers on Twitter alone. So too did fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad, who is both African-American and Muslim.

United States' Olympic gold medalist and nine-time world champion swimmer Katie Ledecky, at 19 years old, is the youngest person on the list.
