Current world No. 5 and tournament's fifth seed Judd Trump of England has advanced to the next round of the 2016 Betfred World Snooker Championships at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, United Kingdom on Thursday.

The Englishman made a spectacular come-from-behind 10-8 triumph after world No. 18 Liang Wenbo of China failed to take full advantage of his early 7-3 lead during the match. With the sensational win, Trump completed the best fight back in this year's world championship.

The victory also kept 26-year-old Trump's hopes alive of reaching the final for the first time since 2011.

The cueman from Bristol trailed to China's second-best player Liang Wenbo 6-3 with top breaks of 117 and 107 overnight and lost the first frame with the Chinese star's run of 59. Liang had an 8-3 lead in his sights when he took on a tricky blind double on the green in the next frame. He missed it and that proved a turning point.

The recent China Open champion managed to win seven of the last eight frames to steal the victory and set a second-round showdown with another tough Chinese opponent Ding Junhui, who defeated Martin Gould of England.

"It seemed like when I had my back against the wall that's when I thrived," Trump, who was the winner of the 2015 World Grand Prix, said to the BBC.

"I played some real good snooker, just solid snooker. I wasn't forcing it really.

"I took a bit of heart from when I was losing big to Shaun Murphy a few years ago and came back to win that.

"I'm so pleased to get through. I can't wait for the next game now."
