One-Third of the Family Trio: Nick Jonas Speaks Up On Moving Forward as a Solo Musician

Last year, the Jonas Brothers had some hard-hitting news for fans when they announced that they will not be working together anymore as a musical trio.

After going their separate ways, Nick Jonas now finds himself recording his first solo album and going through the transition of bidding his family goodbye while working things out on his own.

"It's been good so far," Jonas told RadarOnline "[But] it is an adjustment."

The singer-songwriter also admitted about finding it difficult to work without two-thirds of their former pop rock band.

"It takes a second to get used to being the only one doing interviews and all that," Jonas confessed. "But I've had some experience, whether it be in the Broadway stuff or some of the side projects that I made a couple years ago, and it's good.

He also mentioned of having to take pleasure in every step and pushing himself forward. "It's an interesting journey so far," Jonas commented.

Last July, the musician released his new song "Chains", which will be included on his upcoming solo album.

"For me, I relate it to my life," Jonas said, referring to the song. "While the lyrics are specific to love and romance, for me, it's about my next move and pushing myself harder and not being bound by fear."

In the music video, the singer collaborated with Dylan Penn, daughter of Sean Penn and Robin Wright.

"It was really important that we had someone really interesting in that role of the girl in the video," Jonas stated.. "And one of our mutual friends suggested, Dylan and I loved the idea. She heard the song and loved it and was excited to be a part of it."

While his album has not been slotted for a release until fall, fans can look forward to hearing a new track called "Jealous" from the former Jonas Brothers member soon.

Aside from music, Jonas will also be appearing in the upcoming DirecTV show Kingdom. "This show is really special," he commented. "It's an incredible script and I was drawn to the show and the character immediately. I just knew that I had to be a part of it."
