Twitch has announced huge improvements on its streaming platform during the keynote presentation on Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) over the weekend.

Among the big changes on the streaming platform is the introduction of new Friends List feature and the ability to enjoy streams without ads when interested parties subscribe. This is an attempt of the company to go social and make it easier for users to manage.

The new Friends List of Twitch will allow the users to connect with other viewers they are friends with. They can see them when they are online, and send them whisper messages with just one click. Currently, the Friends List feature is in beta stage, and invitations will be going out soon.

“Once you're in, you'll have your very own Friends List and be able to send Friend requests to other Twitch users that will double as invitations to the Beta,” said in the Twitch's brief announcement.

In addition, Twitch also removed the ads from streams that users subscribe with. The company said that it has been one of the most requested Subscription features. When the user pays monthly to support their favorite broadcasters, they will no longer see video ads when watching the streams. However, it is worth noting that it is up to the streamers to decide whether they want to enable or disable ads for their subscribers.

Moreover, there is a new Creative Directory that can be used to stream alternative content. It helps in showing off communities such as Painting, Cosplay, Game Development, and Food. Also, Twitch added sub-directories that make content easier to find. Most popular streamers within the Creative categories will be highlighted on this new feature as well.
