FIBA World Cup: Diaw-Jackson Tandem Powers France over Serbia

The French team showcased their basketball prowess through the Boris Diaw-Edwin Jackson duo on the second day of this year's FIBA World Championship with a heart-thumping 74-73 win against Serbia.

Although Diaw only scored four points and was plagued with foul trouble, he sealed the deal during the final seconds. On the other hand, Jackson served as the team's source of energy, defensively and offensively, off the bench.

Team France ended the first half trailing Serbia, 42-34. Diaw had difficulty scoring with three personal fouls coming in just 6:15 minutes.

Vincent Collet, the team's head coach revealed a threat in Jackson, who scored 12 points with nine points coming from downtown.

Diaw went on to tie the game at 73 points apiece during the last four seconds of the contest through a trick shot lay-up. Joffrey Lauvergne then dropped the nail in the coffin to award the EuroBasket 2013 champions their first win.

Jackson pointed out that he gave his all in this game. The ASVEL Basket standout expressed that he was glad that his shots were dropping. He is hopeful to contribute further for the successful of the French national team.

Diaw, member of the 2013-2014 championship team of the San Antonio Spurs, also stressed that Jackson did great. He also explained that Jackson did what is expected from a player coming off the bench.

With the team's 65-63 loss against Brazil now in the books, Diaw claimed that they had to get the win to bounce back.

The lay-up attempt is considered as crucial in a very close game. Diaw stated that taking those type of shots during crunch time is never easy. He explained the need to do it by pointing out that their team does not give up as they believe in what they can do.

Nicolas Batum who struggled to score for Team France also contributed with 11 points and six rebounds.
