Akshay Kumar's bodyguard punched a fan, who tried to take a selfie with the actor at the Mumbai airport on Thursday.

The fan, who was among several others waiting to catch a glimpse of the Housefull 3 star, ran behind the actor and continued to follow him as he tried to snap a selfie using his mobile phone.

However, Akshay's bodyguard wasn't happy with the fan's antics and delivered a hard punch to the poor guy's face, leaving onlookers in complete shock as Akki, who completely unaware of what had just happened right behind him, calmly made his way out.

The 48-year-old found out about the incident later and took to Twitter on Friday to apologize for the actions of his bodyguard, who has been under the actor's employment for several years now.

"What happened that day was unfortunate and uncalled for," he wrote. "I was at the airport and I heard a commotion which made me turn around, I didn't notice anything wrong so I walked on."

"It was later brought to my notice that my bodyguard had punched a fan. I have reprimanded him and given him a strict warning for the same. My sincere apology to the fan who was hurt. I hold my fans in the highest regard and such incidents are always upsetting. I will ensure such a scenario is avoided in the future," he added.

This isn't the first time Akshay's bodyguard has laid his hands on the actor's followers. In 2014, he slapped a dentist for coming too close to the star, while he was filming outside a residential property in Mumbai.
