The Western Conference Pacific Division team Sacramento Kings will conduct a job interview with the former Cleveland Cavaliers head tactician David Blatt for the team's head coaching vacancy early this week.

According to ESPN, the 56-year-old Blatt will become the newest addition to a list of coaches interviewed to fill in the spot that George Karl left.

The Kings fired the 2013 NBA Coach of the Year in April following a disappointing 33-49 performance in the league in the 2015-16 regular season. Karl failed to guide the Vivek Ranadive-owned basketball club to reach the playoffs.

Back in January this year, the Cavaliers gave Blatt the pink slip after the LeBron James-led ballclub began the season with 30 wins and 11 losses. He was relieved of his duties by assistant coach Tyronn Lue.

Blatt led the Dan Gilbert-owned basketball team to the 2015 NBA Finals in his first year on the job. He registered a 53-29 record before succumbing to the Stephen Curry-led Golden State Warriors in six games.

Blatt played with the Princeton University as a point guard from 1977 to 1981. He was a part of the US national team that won the gold medal in the 1981 Maccabiah Games. He played professional basketball in Israel for nine years before an injury ended his playing career and he began coaching full-time.

The Boston, Massachusetts native is one of the most successful American coaches in European basketball history. Blatt was a four-time Israeli League Coach of the Year (1996, 2002, 2011 and 2014), a Russian Super League Coach of the Year (2005) and the Euroleague Coach of the Year (2014)

The Kings have already completed interviews with former Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro, former Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks coach Mike Woodson and former Minnesota Timberwolves coach Sam Mitchell.
