"Showtime has become the home of the best boxers in the United States and in the world," said Stephen Espinoza, Showtime Sports executive vice president and general manager. "Our commitment to our viewers and subscribers is to find the best boxers and bring them to us. This is a commitment we have made for quite some time and we are happy to extend it to Anthony Joshua, who we believe is one of the future stars of the sport."

Joshua (16-0, 16 KOs) made his U.S. television debut on April 9 this year when he took the title from the unbeaten American champion Charles Martin via a second-round technical knockout.

The 26-year-old Watford-born boxer will put his world title on the line against Dominic Breazeale, a 6-foot-7 American who also has an outstanding professional boxing record of 17-0 - with 15 bouts won via knockout.

The first fight of Joshua's Showtime deal will be staged in London on the 25th of June. The boxing match will be Showtime's sixth heavyweight title fight in the first six months of the current year.

Joshua, a strapping 6-foot-6, and 245 pounds, is a very popular sports figure in his native England. His incoming fight against Breazeale was sold out in just half-an-hour at the 20,000-seat 02 Arena.

He recently joined reigning IBF super middleweight champion James DeGale as the only professional boxers from the Great Britain to win a gold medal and a world title.
