Spanish professional football midfielder Cesc Fabregas of Premier League club Chelsea has given the thumbs down to a prodigious monetary offer from a Chinese Super League club to bid adieu to The Blues next season.

According to The Sun, the huge offer would have seen the 29-year-old Arenys deMar native earn $290,000 a week after tax. But the former Barcelona midfielder apparently wants to stay in west London ahead of Italian football manager, Antonio Conte's arrival at the club this summer.

After the Brazilian midfielder Oscar turned down an offer from Chinese outfit Jiangsu Suning, the side shifted their focus to Fabregas, who was the next player on the club's wish list. Chinese football teams in the Super League are gearing up for the summer transfer market for their next splurge.

China has increasingly become a popular destination for high-profile footballers in Europe, with the likes of Brazilian nationals Alex Teixeira and Ramires and Columbian Jackson Martinez making the move across to the Far East this year.

However, Fabregas has chosen to buck the trend and remain at Stamford Bridge where he hopes to become an important part of the former Juventus manager's plans for next season.

This season, Fabregas has made 34 Premier League appearances; scoring four goals and providing seven assists to his team-mates.

Chelsea is having with a depressing campaign in their bid to defend their Premier League title this year, but with Conte's appointment, The Blues hope to bounce back to competing at the top of the table next season.
