The killing of an Indianapolis teen, who was strangled to death and was found torched, during the weekend is believed to be random, police officers revealed.

Marion County Chief Deputy Coroner Alfarena Ballew revealed that 15-year-old Dominique Allen's death was a homicide due to asphyxiation.

Her body was found on Sunday by a man who was out for a walk with his dog in his backyard along Elder Avenue, which is located near the city's northwest side.

The grieving family of the victim made a small tribute to her via a makeshift wooden cross placed near the burnt grass where her body was found.

One of her sisters, Shenika Poindexter, cautioned the person responsible for her death.

"Justice is going to be served. In this life or the next. She was 15 years old, doing what normal 15 year olds do. I swear to God, on my life, that you will pay for what you did," she said in between tears.

According to Poindexter, her sister was not the kind of person to talk with strangers or go with them anywhere.

Reports indicate that Allen was possibly killed by someone unknown to her. She was allegedly last seen at 4 a.m. on Sunday on the porch of one of her sisters in North Mount Street.

Mareeka Allen, the sister the victim was living with when she died, believes that the crime was a "careless random act". She also claims that her sister would not have known her assailant.

Investigators confirmed on Tuesday that Allen was abducted at around 5 in the afternoon and was taken to an abandoned house nearby, which is located at the 10th and Lynn streets.

In hopes of finding the suspect fitting the criminal profile, police officers are currently looking into missing persons and runaway cases, as well as the sex offender registry containing over 100 possible individuals who live or work within a mile from Allen's house.
