Ryan Reynolds Happy With Role in ‘The Captive’

Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds had been cast in the new movie "The Captive" and claims that playing his part in the film had been a fun experience.

Reynolds' role in the movie is that of a parent whose child was kidnapped - every parent's nightmare - but the actor says he had fun portraying his character, describing it as 'cathartic' while he speaking cheerily.

The 37-year old former soap-opera teen star also admitted that it was embarrassing.

The actor was interviewed Friday as part of promotional efforts for the film, and he took the opportinity to share his thoughts and some behind-the-scenes hints. Reynolds explained that he spent two weeks filming the movie.

"I was uncontrollably sobbing in front of a crew of people I'd just met," he said, sharing how he got into character for 'The Captive'. He jokingly added that he wished that by the time he was done with two to three takes, he wouldn't feel embarrassed anymore.

The "Green Lantern" star has been earning praises for his work over the past decades, which showed his range and versatility in acting. He has made a name for himself by playing comedic roles on screen in films such as "The Proposal" with Sandra Bullock.

Reynolds has also showed his serious side in "The Green Lantern" where he played the lead, in the action-thriller "Safe House", and in the horror film "Amityville".

During the interview, he also spoke about the ups and downs of being in showbiz, saying there are actors and actresses who would make it big while others would just disappear out of the scene.

Asked about any long-term plans for his career, Ryan Reynolds said he doesn't have one.
