Susan Sarandon ripped into Woody Allen when she was asked about the director's sexual abuse allegations during an interview at the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday.

"I think he sexually assaulted a child and I don't think that's right," the 69-year-old actress said during Variety and Kering's Women in Motion interview.

"I have nothing good to say about him," added Sarandon, who was seated alongside her Thelma & Louise co-star Geena Davis. "I don't want to go there."

Allen, who opened the festival with his new film Café Society, has found himself to be the subject of controversy regarding his part after Ronan Farrow, the filmmaker's son with Mia Farrow, penned a column in The Hollywood Reporter about his sister, Dylan Farrow's sexual assault allegations against their father.

In the controversial article, Ronan criticized the media for not investigating his father and also slammed Hollywood for turning a blind eye to his sister's allegations and continuing to work with Allen.

Dylan maintains that Allen sexually abused her when she was 7 years old and went public with the accusations in a open letter published in the New York Times in 2014. Allen denied the allegations and no charges were filed against the Oscar-winning director.

French comedian Laurent Lafitte also made a rape joke about Allen at the opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival. "It's very nice that you've been shooting so many movies in Europe, even if you are not being convicted for rape in the U.S," Lafitte said, comparing Allen to fugitive filmmaker Roman Polanski.

However, during a luncheon at the festival later, Allen said that he was not offended by the comedian's joke.
