Made In America Music Festival: Dozens Arrested for Drugs, Alcohol at Los Angeles Event

Over two dozen arrests had been made on Made in America music festival's first night with 34,000 attendees at downtown Los Angeles' Grand Park.

At least 29 individuals who were present last Saturday in the two-day event were handcuffed by the authorities, the Los Angeles Police Department has reported. Even a private security guard was arrested for alleged battery of a concertgoer. According to officials, majority of the arrests were related to drug and alcohol.

Seven more individuals were taken into arrest the following day, Sunday, which included arrests for possession of narcotics and public drunkenness. 27,000 festival tickets were scanned for the day's lineup of events

Both the LAPD and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department allocated more than a hundred officers and deputies for monitoring of the festival. Hundreds of private security personnel had been present as well, as stated by LAPD Lt. Andrew Neiman.

While no major incidents have been reported, six individuals were rushed to a local hospital for heat-related symptoms, such as dehydration and dizziness. The Los Angeles authorities urged concertgoers to drink up on water and stay hydrated due to high temperatures.

A total number of arrests were not provided immediately at the closing of the event, which reportedly carried on behind schedule, concluding over half an hour after the expected cutoff at 11 p.m.

Aside from such arrests, the festival was deemed by the authorities as "mostly peaceful." According to Lt. Neiman, the event had "gone quite well, considering the crowds and this being the first of this kind of event in downtown."

Those who had been present in the event also expressed similar sentiments.

"Here we're all united as one," a concertgoer claimed. "Music brings us together. We're here to have a good time, nothing else matters."

The Made in America music festival featured three stages with high-profile headliners, such as Kanye West, Imagine Dragons, Kendrick Lamar, Afrojack, John Mayer, and Iggy Azalea.
