Tech giant Google is rolling out a new update for its Play Store on the Android platform. The new version of Play Store, version 6.7, will focus on making it easier for users to join Android app betas. With the new update, users will also be free to leave any beta tests that they have joined.

App listings on Google's Play Store now includes the option to join or leave a beta test directly from the app itself. This gives users a more convenient way of joining beta tests.

Once a user opt in to join a beta test, the app listing on the Play Store will note whether the app is in beta or if it is a private, unpublished version of the app which is not widely distributed. On the other hand, some apps require users to join a specific Google+ community before they are allowed to partake in the beta test.

When users are running the beta version of a certain app, the Play Store listing will say so right at the top. This is a handy feature especially when users cannot tell if they are running a stable or non-stable version of the app.

Some tech analysts have highlighted that once users are participating in a specific beta test, they are allowed to leave comments for the developer. Some say that this is a good way of directly informing developers of what options or features should be added or taken away. According to Android Police, the interface looks like a normal review for an app, but the comments provided by users are only visible to the developer of the app.

The Play Store version 6.7 was rolled out on Saturday, May 14. However, many tech experts believe that Google will not release the update to all of its users at once. Eager users who cannot wait until the update arrives on their devices can manually download it.
