Reports are out that the Philadelphia 76ers are "highly unlikely" to trade the no. 1 overall pick they won in the NBA draft lottery on Tuesday evening even though the team's roster is already loaded with young talent.

According to team president and general manager Bryan Colangelo, the Sixers have no plans to trade the top pick of the 2016 NBA Draft in June despite the youth of their current lineup. Aside from the no. 1 pick, Philadelphia also has the no. 24 and 26 selections they gained from trades with the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers respectively.

The Sixers already have some of the best lottery players of the last two years, namely Nerlens Noel, Joel Embiid, Jahlil Okafor, Nik Stauskas, Jerami Grant, and, if they snag him from Europe this summer, Dario Saric. With three more first rounders this year, the team could be adding more under-22 players to their fold.

"I've been quoted as saying you can only have so many developing players in your fold," said Colangelo, as per NBC Sports. "There's a lot to consider to finding a balance... I think there needs to be a blend of young talent and veterans on your roster, there needs to be a balance."

Despite the comment, Colangelo noted that finding the right roster balance does not mean they are looking to trade this year's no. 1 overall pick, though.

"I would say you never say never, but certainly trading the No. 1 pick is a highly unlikely situation," he said.

Clarifying reports last week that the team was considering to trade their first pick for a solid veteran point guard (i.e. Derrick Rose), Colangelo said that he never said they "would consider trading the no. 1 pick".

Meanwhile, Sport Illustrated reported that the Sixers are "leaning toward drafting LSU's Ben Simmons" with their top pick in the approaching NBA draft.

The team is said to be also looking at the other prospective top selection, Duke forward Brandon Ingram, but they are preferring Simmons' potential than Ingram's.

If that is the case, then Ingram is expected to land in the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers, who are selecting second overall on June 23rd.
