Princess Diana's iconic fairy-tale wedding dress is set to be transferred to her sons after being on display at the Spencer's estate in Northampton, England since 1997.

As stipulated in her will, the dress, along with other items, were to be looked after by her younger brother, Earl Spencer, until both her boys reached the age of 30.

Spencer already announced the closure of the exhibit at Althorp House in preparation for the September 15 birthday of Prince Harry, the date by which the dress is to be returned to his nephews.

Aside from the famous dress, Diana's sons are also to inherit other dresses, jewels, letters, home movies, and other personal effects of their late mother.

An entire generation was enchanted by the dress Lady Diana Spencer wore during her wedding with Prince Charles at St. Paul's Cathedral in 1981. The wedding was a royal dream come true and dubbed as "The Wedding of the Century."

The ceremony was witnessed by 750 million people on television and by 600,000 spectators on the streets of London.

The dress was designed by British designers Elizabeth and David Emanuel. It was made of ivory colored silk tafetta and antique lace. It also featured hand embroidered sequins, and 10,000 pearls. The train was 25 feet long and had large puffed sleeves, which were subsequently copied by knock-off dresses just hours after the ceremony and for years to follow.

In 1997, Diana was killed in a car crash in Paris and her dress, along with other personal belongings, was put on display by her brother at the family's estate where she was also laid to rest.

It is not yet known if the dress will be put on display at Kensington Palace where Diana resided until her death, as well as the current home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
