Although the release date of "Pokemon GO" still remains a mystery, new details are emerging regarding its highly-anticipated gameplay.

However, the information isn't coming from Nintendo itself but from enterprising "Pokemon GO" field testers who have spilled the beans on what their fellow players can expect from the game, according to PC Advisor.

The game reportedly only has 150 original Pokémon characters. Players can catch "Pokémon" when they come across the creature, and every catch made earns them a shard of an evolution crystal that is used to evolve the Pokemon.

When players attempt to catch a "Pokémon, their Pokéball" supposedly enlarges and contracts. The smaller the circle is, the more likely one will be able to catch a "Pokémon"

Upon a successful "Pokemon" catch, gamers will allegedly get an XP boost, which can net you between 100- and 500XP depending on the creature's rarity. Players can also earn XPs for making a good throw.

Around 30- to 50 percent of Ingress portals now supposedly serve as Pokestops, which are used as item portals and are especially important in rural areas.

"Pokémon GO," whose release date still has be disclosed, is an augmented-reality mobile game for Android and iPhone that is being developed by The Pokémon Company and Niantic, a former Google startup.

Nintendo is also helping out in the development and production the game's companion device "Pokémon GO Plus."

In "Pokémon GO," the main objective is to locate, catch, battle and trade Pokémon. Due to its gameplay design, gamers are encouraged to connect with other nearby Pokémon GO players.

In describing "Pokemon GO," John Hanke, founder of Niantic, said: "For the first time, 'Pokémon' will roam free in the real world. 'Pokémon GO' will allow players to capture Pokémon who inhabit parks, shopping areas, sidewalks and the countryside all around the world."

He added: "Imagine discovering a Squirtle hiding along the waterfront in San Francisco, a Bulbasaur at Shinjuku Station or a Pikachu beneath the Eiffel Tower."

"Pokemon" fans will just have to content themselves with these updates until Nintendo decides to announce "Pokemon GO's" official release date.
