English Premier League side Everton FC is reportedly eyeing a £40 million summer swoop for Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart as "ambitious" new owner Farhad Moshiri aims to improve the team in the offseason.

The Sun reported that "ambitious super-rich new owner Farhad Moshiri is making an astonishing attempt to buy Joe Hart" from the Citizens in the summer. The British-Iranian businessman is said to be "ready to throw around £40 million at a bid for the Manchester City star in the hope that Pep Guardiola can be persuaded to sell".

Moshiri is also prepared to offer the 29-year-old English goal tender a £200,000 weekly wage, one of the richest at his position, just to snatch him away from the Etihad and into the Goodison Park next season, the report continued.

The 61-year-old Monaco resident is also planning two more major signings in the summer transfer window, but getting Hart on board is allegedly his top priority for the Toffees this summer.

Moshiri sold his Arsenal FC stake to Usmanov in February of this year in order to fund his planned buyout of Everton later in the month. He successfully did so as he purchased a 49.9 percent stake of the Toffees football club also on Feb. 27 and the sale was reportedly approved by the Premier League in March.

The steel and energy tycoon had been hands on with regards to club operations since then and is allegedly keen on making Everton one of the big players in future transfer markets.

Caught Offside noted that Hart would be the "ideal long-term replacement" for the Blues' veteran goalkeeper Tim Howard, who recently joined Major League Soccer squad Colorado Rapids.

Meanwhile, Guardiola is set to takeover City's head coaching reins from Manuel Pellegrini this summer and is said to be unimpressed by Hart's game.

The Spanish mentor is allegedly ready to release Hart as he wants a goalkeeper "who is better with the ball at his feet", specifically Barcelona goalie Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
