Joan Rivers' Funeral Scheduled on Sunday

The details for the funeral of Joan Rivers has been released. Sources reveal that it will be at Temple Emanu-El in Manhattan on Sunday.

The spokeswoman of the said temple, Elizabeth Fezrine, has announced about the funeral but has not included details about the time and if the public will be allowed to be in the service.

After days of Joan Rivers being in a critical condition at the hospital, her daughter, Melissa Rivers, broke the news that her mother died at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York today.

Melissa said in a statement: "It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers. She passed peacefully at 1:17 p.m. surrounded by family and close friends." Melissa added that she and her son wanted to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the hospital for the amazing care and services they have rendered for her mother.

As soon as the news broke, fans started to place bouquets at the entrance of her apartment located at Manhattan's Upper East Side. Reporters and photographers also gathered outside the said hospital.

Joan has been in the hospital since August 28 after she stopped breathing during a vocal chords surgery at an endoscopy clinic. From that day on, Joan was unconscious and was on life support.

Joan Alexandra Molinsky was born on June 8, 1933, in Brooklyn. She was the daughter of a doctor and a housewife. She graduated from Barnard College.

Joan was known for being the pioneering queen of comedy and was loved for her sharp wit and classic jabs. She was also known for her frequent cosmetic enhancements. She once described herself as "the plastic surgery poster girl".

Rivers was first discovered at the Ed Sullivan Show and just lately, she has been on Fashion Police lashing out on every celebrity who has outrageous fashion statements. She also was the fill-in host for Johnny Carson's show back in the 80s.

She and her daughter also once starred in the reality show entitled "Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best". She also had her own show called "The Joan Rivers show" that won an Emmy award.

Rivers was a widow because her husband and manager, Edgar Rosenberg, committed suicide.

Her friends in the industry took it to the social media to extend their condolences for the Rivers family.

Journalist Barbara Walters said: "No one loved life, laughter, and a good time more than Joan. We would have dinner and laugh and gossip and I always left the table smiling." Barabara added that Joan was brassy, outrageous and hilarious all at the same time.

Comedian Louis C.K. also expressed his condolences as he praised Joan's talent. He said that he never saw someone perform on stage with so much energy. He added that Joan was a controlled lightning bolt.

Aside from the showbiz, there was also one leader who expressed his condolences. Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu said that Joan brought laughter to millions around the world and was proud of her Jewish heritage. He added that Joan was a vocal supporter of the State of Israel and that she will be deeply missed.
