A day after news broke that Amber Heard had filed for divorce from Johnny Depp after 15 months of marriage, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor has addressed their separation in a statement issued through his rep.

"Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life," Depp's representative said on Thursday. "Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly."

Heard, 30, filed for divorce earlier this week citing "irreconcilable differences" days after the death of Depp's mother, Betty Sue Palmer, as previously reported.

It is not yet clear which fake stories have been mentioned in Depp's statement but a source told Radar Online that the reason behind the couple's split were rights over having a baby.

"Johnny and Amber were at odds with each other because she wanted a baby, but he didn't want to be an old dad," a source told the publication.

According to TMZ, one of the reasons the pair pulled the plug on their marriage were differences between Heard and Depp's family.

An insider revealed to the gossip website that the 52-year-old actor's two teenage kids, sisters and mother "hated" Amber and expressed their dislike for her openly and were vocal about how she would "treat him [Depp] like crap."

In her divorce filing, the actress has requested spousal support from her The Rum Diary co-star, but Depp filed papers in court on Wednesday seeking the dismissal of his estranged wife's request for financial support. The couple did not sign a pre-nuptial agreement before tying the knot on Depp's private island in February 2015.
