Xiaomi continues to reign in the Chinese smartphone market, achieving a record-high 26 percent market share in April, according to a study conducted by a local firm.

The smartphone maker's CEO Lei Jun proudly posted the chart, which is based on Sino's monthly market analysis report, on Weibo. The Chinese smartphone maker knocked out its local competitors such as Huawei, Honor, and LeEco in the month of April.

Xiaomi managed to sell as many units as honor and LeEco combined and three times as many smartphones as Apple, Android Authority reported.

Far behind Xiaomi is honor, a subsidiary of Huawei, with 15.7 percent. However, if Honor is counted together with its parent brand Huawei, then sales will climb to 23.7 percent, which is a few points away from the first spot.

Meanwhile, LeTV secured the third spot with a 10.5 percent slice of the Chinese smartphone market. International brands such as Apple and Samsung only managed to claim just 8.2 percent and 3.2 percent of the market, respectively.

On the other hand, Meizu got seven percent, 360 has 4.5 percent, and the Others category has a pretty big share of 17.1 percent.

China is the biggest smartphone market in the world and is largely untouched by Western labels. While many Chinese brands have already been introduced to the Western market, only a handful of Western brands have reached China. In fact, no Western smartphone maker has successfully penetrated the mainland except Apple.

Meanwhile, just last month, Xiaomi started diversifying its ecosystem and launched a new product line called the Mi Ecosystem, which explores the smart home sector. The company plans to broaden its market by introducing distinct products created by Xiaomi and its ecosystem partners.
