The Dallas Mavericks are set to explore trade options for Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose in the coming offseason, recent reports said.

Chicago is allegedly on its way to a total roster blow up after failing to qualify in this year's playoffs in the team's first season under new head coach Fred Hoiberg. Speculations abound that the team is ready to start afresh and let Hoiberg form his own team that will fit better with his existing system.

Resident stars Joakim Noah, Pau Gasol, Taj Gibson, and even Jimmy Butler is the subject of a lot of NBA trade rumors since last summer and the 2011 NBA MVP is also not exempted to such gossips.

One of the noisiest rumors regarding Rose this summer is that the Mavericks are targeting him to join them next season.

While Rose had been injury-prone in the past few years, he managed to play 66 games for his squad in the recently concluded season as compared to the combined 61 games in the previous two seasons, indicating that at 27 years old he is still one of the best players in the league at the moment.

Fansided noted that the Bulls are considering to trade Rose this offseason before his impending unrestricted free-agency next summer not only because of their uncertainty about his future but also because they want to free up as much cap space for a rebuilding.

Meanwhile, Cheat Sheet recently suggested that the Mavericks should go after Rose this summer as Dallas' current starting point guard Derrick Williams had expressed opting out of the remainder of his contract this July.

The article said that instead of spending "big dollars on a 32-year-old Williams - whose stats have been in serious decline the last few seasons - Dallas could instead opt to deal for Rose, who will be just 28 years old next season".

It was mentioned that the Mavs could swap shooting guard Wesley Matthews and some draft picks to the Bulls to make the deal happen. Allowing incoming free agents Zaza Pachulia, Raymond Felton, and Williams to leave is also key to accommodate Rose's salary.
