Cleveland Cavaliers guard Matthew Dellavedova has inked a three-year product endorsement deal with Chinese sports shoes and apparel maker PEAK.

The 25-year-old native of Maryborough, Victoria said in a press release that after his rookie season with the Cavaliers, PEAK Australia initially approached him and talked about the business idea.

"PEAK Australia approached me nearly two years ago with the idea of introducing a basketball shoe into the Australian market" Dellavedova revealed. "From there, talks became more serious in the past year, and PEAK worked hard on developing a shoe that offers the type of reliability and performance that drives me every day. It's pretty special. I can't wait to unveil them for the first time later this year".

According to PEAK Australia, the signature shoe, the 'Delly 1', will be available on the market in Down Under on July 1.

Greg Bickley, the managing director of PEAK Australia, stated in a press release that he believes the Cleveland Cavaliers' three-year guard is an ideal representative of the company brand.

"Matthew offers the type of characteristics that we want people to associate with our brand," Bickley said. "Hard-working, honest and most of all, always ready to play. He is already such a fantastic role model to the basketball community in Australia, and it's our hope that through this global partnership with PEAK, Matthew will become a household name throughout the 70 plus countries that PEAK are located in".

Dellavedova, who is listed as 6-feet-4-inches and 198 pounds, is averaging 7.5 points and 4.4 assists in 76 games he played for the back-to-back Eastern Conference Champion team Cleveland Cavaliers in last season. He appeared in the Wine and Gold's 15 postseason games and averaged 4.3 points and 3.4 dimes per contest.

The Australian national became an unlikely well-known basketball star last season after filling in the role of Kyrie Irving, who was injured that time. Dellavedova will now be joining NBA All-Star Dwight Howard of the Houston Rockets in endorsing the products of the Hong Kong-listed company.
