Manny Pacquiao and Chris Algieri

Despite preparing for a clash against undefeated champion Chris Algieri, the potential Floyd Mayweather fight still haunts Manny Pacquiao.

The Pacman is scheduled to fight again in Macau to defend his WBO welterweight title on November 22. The match will mark his 64th professional fight of his career that is highlighted with titles in 8 weight divisions.

Pacquiao has been very vocal about facing the American champion. In a recent interview with the Associated Press on Friday, the fighting congressman stated that the match against Money is what the fans want.

With HBO and Showtime having finally reached an agreement to make the fight possible, the Filipino star is definitely closer to materializing the fight.

Bob Arum, founder and CEO of Top Rank, said he's positive they could make the Pacquiao-Mayweather clash happen. However, he is in doubt if Mayweather would approve.

The Top Rank head honcho also said that Money does not want to lose the zero in his unbeaten record. He is positive that if Floyd blemished his record, he will be more than eager to be in the fight.

Whether the fight happens or not, Pacquiao is already happy with his achievements in boxing. ''If that fight happens, fine,'' the former pound-for-pound king said. ''If not, fine. What I have done in my boxing career already has satisfied me. What I will be disappointed if that does not happen is because that is what the fans want. My concern is the concern of the fans, and the fans want that fight.''

Pacquiao isn't likely to push the fight for another lucrative paycheck especially with Algieri standing on his way. Aside from being an impressive boxer with an undefeated 20-0 record, Algieri has a master's degree in clinical nutrition. Also, he aims to go to medical school.

Both men need the win for their own reasons, Algieri needs the victory to skyrocket his boxing career to the top. Another win for Pacquiao will further erase the memory of his losses from Timothy Bradley and rival Juan Manuel Marquez.
