He may be a rock legend renowned around the world for his music, but as of now, Keith Richards is adopting a new title: children's book author. While it may not be music and lyrics, Richards has definitely added a musical component to his kid-friendly new project.

Collaborating with his artist daughter, the two are currently celebrating the brand new release of Gus & Me: The Story of My Granddad and My First Guitar. As an autobiographical story, the plotline centers on Richards' grandfather, Theodore Augustus Dupree-the man who introduced Richards to the beautiful world of performance.

"Gus kicked me into music," Richards told Harper's Bazaar during an interview he had with them last month. "So I thought his story was something to pass on, maybe turn a few kids on--and a few grandpas on."

Dupree was a musician himself and played in a jazz band before taking Richards under his wing. Now as a grandfather himself, Richards wishes to honor his grandfather and their relationship in the way he knows best: through art.

Richards expressed that his daughter was just as intrigued by her great-grandfather as he was.

"Theo has always been a little illustrator, and she did a lot of research," Richards mentioned to Harper's Bazaar. "She also wanted to know more about her great-grandfather. She would call me up frantically some nights saying, 'What hat did Grandpa wear?' and 'Where...is Primrose Hill?' So I sent her on a little journey."

Keeping with the family tradition, Richards had enlisted his very own daughter, Theodora, to act as the book's official illustrator. Theodora was only too happy to become a part of the project.

"I've always been a daddy's girl," Theodora admitted to Harper's Bazaar. "I'm also named after my great-grandfather--Theodore Augustus Dupree. That's why it is so wonderful that my dad asked me to do this book. I literally stayed inside for months doing drawings of London and Dad's face and his grandpa's shoes and the dogs and armchairs and cakes and the landscape."

The pair had originally announced their collaboration for the book in spring of 2014. Gus & Me has just reached its release date this month and is available on Amazon.
