Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Fight Night 50: Jacare versus Mousasi was a night full of exciting fights and finishes.

The main event pitted former DREAM rivals in the Brazilian Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza and Armenian Gegard Mousasi. Previously, Jacare was winning the fight, staying more active on the feet and taking Mousasi down.

However, an upkick from Mousasi caught Jacare on the chin and turned the lights off.

Mousasi won the inaugural DREAM Middleweight Championship. Their fight in Connecticut had title ramifications for the winner.

The main event of UFC Fight Night 50 started out much the same. Jacare was staying more active on the feet and throwing more strikes. However, Mousasi would throw overhand rights and counterpunches, catching Jacare several times.

In the third round, as Mousasi went for a takedown, Jacare cinched up a guillotine and pulled guard. Upon hitting the mat, Jacare also trapped one of Mousasi's arms, forcing the Armenian to tap.

This performance earned Jacare US $50,000 for his noteworthy performance.

Prior to that, the co-main event saw the heavyweight Alistair Overeem against tough "Big" Ben Rothwell.

Overeem had recently switched camps to acclaimed Greg Jackson MMA in Albaquerque, New Mexico. He said that he liked his new camp and showcased the leanest physique he has had in a while.

Early in the match, Reem was throwing kicks from the outside; aiming for Rothwell's knee with an oblique kick - signature move of new teammate Jon Jones - and heavy kick to the body.

However, it only took Rothwell one overhand right to the ear area to dismantle Overeem. Once Overeem was on the floor, Rothwell rained punches and strikes to an unmoving opponent until the referee stepped in to end the fight.

Rothwell also got a performance of the night bonus.

Joe Lauzon and Michael Chiesa also fought that night, with a back-and-forth exchange of techniques both standing up and on the ground. In the second round, Lauzon threw a knee that opened a giant cut above the eyebrow of Chiesa.

The doctor was forced to stop the bout. Both fighters got US $50,000 for the fight of the night.
