Tasya van Ree has broken her silence and denied reports that she and Amber Heard were involved in a domestic abuse incident in 2009.

The photographer claims that the altercation, which took place between her and Heard at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, was "misinterpreted."

In a statement obtained by E! News, she claimed that the events that transpired between them at the time were "over-sensationalized."

"In 2009, Amber was wrongfully accused for an incident that was misinterpreted and over-sensationalized by two individuals in a powerful position," she said.

"I recount hints of misogynistic attitudes toward us which alter appeared to be homophobic when they found out we were domestic partners and not just 'friends.' Charges were quickly dropped and she was released moments later," Tasya added about Heard's domestic abuse arrest.

Reports of the actress' arrest have placed a big question mark on the validity of the Magic Mike XXL star's allegations that husband Johnny Depp physically and emotionall abused her during their relationship.

Tasya has now come out in Heard's defense, saying that she is saddened that the actress' integrity and story is being questioned. She further added that the actress is "a brilliant, honest and beautiful woman" with whom she is still close to despite their split.

Earlier this week, TMZ was able to get hold of documents proving that Heard was arrested for domestic abuse in 2009. The prosecutor, however, did not pursue the case, as the couple lived in California.

Nevertheless, the judge had reservations in setting the case aside, claiming that the "prosecutors could reconsider and refile within the 2-year statute of limitations."

The revelation of her arrest puts her in an ironic position given that Heard is claiming that she was a victim of domestic abuse at the hands of her estranged husband. She has also filed for divorce from Depp and has already obtained a restraining order against the Pirates of the Caribbean actor.
