Alleged AMD Radeon RX 480 3DMark Benchmark Result Shows Card is ‘VR-Ready’

A new benchmark result is taking the tech community by storm. The latest 3DMark benchmark believed to be that of the AMD Radeon RX 480 appeared at a website and is now the topic of several discussions.

The benchmark result was first spotted by WCCFTech and was posted on 3DMark. The benchmark uses the widely used 3DMark11. While the application did not specify that it is indeed the Radeon RX 480, a closer inspection of the test specs reveal hauntingly familiar information than the ones officially confirmed by AMD.

Keen-eyed tech enthusiasts noticed that the video card used on the 3DMark11 benchmark has the same Core clock and memory bus clock as the specs released by AMD for the Radeon RX 480. Experts cannot fully confirm whether it is really the Radeon RX 480 since the video card has not yet been released.

Moreover, the 3DMark11 benchmark result reveals that it was paired with an Intel Core i7-4770. The most exciting part of it is that it scores a 3Dmark P-score of 14,461 achieving a "VR-Ready" grade. In comparison, using DirectX 11, the rumored Radeon RX 480 performs nearly as good as or even better than the GTX 970 and the Radeon 390. When power efficiency and price is considered, the RX 480 will definitely be on the top.

Considering the fact that AMD will release the RX 480 for only $199, the recent benchmark result is sparking speculations that the company is well on its way to regaining the video card market. While Nvidia's GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 both boast high-end performance, the Radeon RX 480's combination of price to performance is regarded by many as the sweet spot for next-gen gaming and virtual reality.

AMD is planning to release the Radeon RX 480 video card at the end of the month.
