Meanwhile, Peru take on Colombia in the second match of the knockout round that kicks off at 8 p.m. ET on June 17, 2016 at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.

Argentina, Mexico and Venezuela have also booked places in the knockout stage of the South American football championship.

The first quarterfinal match of the tournament will be played between hosts USA and Ecuador. The Americans stormed into the quarterfinals after a 1-0 win against Paraguay at the Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday.

"The whole old story is the underdog story, and I cannot hear that story anymore," U.S. Coach Jurgen Klinsmann told the Associated Press. "I want to see them risk things. Let's go for it. Because if you're not going for it, sooner or later they're going to break you down."

Ecuador, on the other hand, comfortably advanced to the quarterfinals after registering a dominating 4-0 win over a hapless Haiti at the East Rutherford on Sunday night. Enner Valencia, Jaime Ayovi, Noboa and Antonio Valencia got their names on the score sheet for Ecuador in their final group stage clash.
