Tech company Alienware is resurrecting its Aurora line of desktop gaming PCs and is turning it into a system that is powerful enough to handle upcoming virtual reality titles.

Alienware is a company with a long list of desktop gaming PCs that will surely fit any gamers' requirements. With the new Aurora desktop, though, Alienware is aiming to create a compact mid-tower desktop gaming rig and pack it with enough firepower to play current triple-A titles as well as future VR content.

The new Aurora measure 14 inches deep by 18 inches tall and 18 inches wide. The chassis takes some of its design cues from the previous Area 51 rig, with three side lights embedded on an angled case that sports a pyramid-like design.

Alienware claims that the new Aurora is the smallest gaming system that can support dual graphics card setup.

Alienware also added a new interior design, which makes it easy for users to access the PC's internal components. The company said that they are working on a new design that supports liquid cooling.

In terms of specs, the Alienware Aurora is a beast. It has an Intel Core i7-6700K processor that opens up a lot of headroom for overclocking. It has a dual Nvidia GTX 1080 graphics cards setup.

For gamers on a tight budget, the Aurora is also available on a low-end Nvidia 950 configuration, and users can instead opt-in to upgrade later. Alienware claims that the high-end GPU setup will allow the Aurora to support up to three 4K displays at the same time.

Alienware said that the Aurora is "designed for VR," although the company already has some systems powerful enough to work with the Oculus Rift or the HTC Vive virtual reality headsets. The Alienware Aurora is slated to be released in summer, and prices will depend on the type of configuration customers choose.
