'NCIS' Season 14: Wilmer Valderrama Joins as Series Regular

Wilmer Valderrama has joined the cast of "NCIS" as a series regular for the upcoming 14th season of the long-running CBS drama a month after Michael Weatherly's departure.

The 36-year-old actor will play an NCIS field agent who went missing after a deep cover assignment several years ago. Many agents don't even know whether he's still on the mission or if he's dead or alive until he resurfaces as an unpredictable and charismatic "loose cannon."

The procedural's executive producer Gary Glasberg said Valderrama was chosen for the "NCIS" role because of his dramatic, physical and comedic talents and fans will see him in a completely different light. "This is going to be fun. We're thrilled he's coming aboard," Glasberg added.

Valderrama recently featured in Fox's science-fiction crime drama, "Minority Report" and is best known for playing Fez in "That '70s Show." His other television credits include "Grey's Anatomy," "From Dusk Till Dawn" and "Awake." Walderrama has also appeared in a handful of films, including "To Whom It May Concern," "The Adderall Diaries," "Larry Crowne," and "From Prada to Nada" among others.

The new casting announcement comes a month after series regular and fan-favorite Weatherly said goodbye to the series in an emotional season 13 finale.

"NCIS," which also stars Pauley Perrette, Sean Murray, Mark Harmon, Rocky Caroll, Emily Wickersham, Brian Dietzen and David McCallum, is slated to return this fall.

The Valderrama took to Twitter to express his excitement about the new project. "Thrilled to be joining @NCIS_CBS," he wrote. "We are gonna have some fun.. And expect the unexpected.. #NCIS @CBS hope you guys are ready."
