Meat Loaf: American Rocker Collapses While Performing Onstage in Edmonton [VIDEO]

American singer Meat Loaf collapsed while performing on stage during a concert in Edmonton, Canada on Thursday night.

The "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" hitmaker was performing at the Northern Jubilee Auditorium as part of his Canada tour when he collapsed on the stage floor.

Video footage of the incident shows the Grammy-winning rocker losing consciousness mid-song, prompting fellow bandmembers to rush to his aid.

Edmonton police confirmed to CBS News that they received a call about a medical emergency at the venue, which was later cleared. The rocker's condition is not yet known.

"He was performing 'I Would Do Anything For Love,' and all of a sudden in the middle of it he collapsed right on stage," eyewitness Lindsay Sundmark told The Edmonton Journal. "We weren't sure at first whether it was part of the act or it was something for real."

Meat Loaf, whose actual name is Marvin Lee Aday, is best known for his "Bat of Hell" album series. He also appeared in a handful of films, including "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and "Fight Club."

The 68-year-old musician was slated to perform at Moose Jaw and Calgary earlier this week but the shows were cancelled due to illness.

This isn't the first time Meat Load has collapsed while performing. In 2003, he collapsed during a concert in London due to exhaustion from a virus. In 2011, he fainted during another show in Pittsburgh but got back up a few minutes later and went on with his performance.
