Xiaomi's Mi Smartwatch Confirmed on Official Website

Xiaomi's Mi Smartwatch has been confirmed thanks to a listing on the tech giant's official website.

Xiaomi's upcoming wearable device has been the subject of speculation for quite some time now. There were rumors that the device will be launched with the Mi Max in Beijing early last month, but obviously, that did not happen.

Now, the largest manufacturer of smartphones in China has added a new Smartwatch category to their official website, thereby confirming reports that a Xiaomi smartwatch will be hitting the shelves in the near future.

In April, co-founder and VP of Xiaomi, Liu De, confirmed at the Mi Max launch in China that a Xiaomi smartwatch was in the works and that it would be released sometime in the latter half of 2016.

While he did not provide further details about the product's official release date. The CEO of Huami Huang Wang, the company that manufactures Xiaomi's wearable devices, including the Mi Band, has revealed that the highly anticipated Mi Smartwatch would be released in September.

However, this is not Xiaomi's first smartwatch. The company already offers a kids' wearable device called the Mi Bunny Smartwatch. The device retails for 299 Yuan ($46).

A leaked design sketch of the Mi Smartwatch recently surfaced online. The illustration shows a thick-bezel watch with two buttons on the right-hand side of the and a 'Mi' logo placed over the display.

The Mi Smartwatch will reportedly feature a 1.3-inch round display and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 CPU with 512MB RAM. The product is expected to be priced at 999 yuan ($152).
