China's star cyclist Sarah Lee Wai-sze continued on her road to the Rio Olympics in style, as she bagged another gold medal in the International Track Series held in Melbourne last week - her fourth gold in the event.

Lee - a bronze medallist in the keirin at the 2012 London Games - gave out a clear message to all her peers that she will be a force to be reckoned with following her latest performance in the DISC velodrome.

This is the first event Lee has participated in since the World Championships in March, when she defeated Australian Stephanie Morton 2-1 in a best-of-three series. The victory is a good sign, as the countdown to the Rio Games has only a little over a month remaining. It will act as a major psychological boost for the 29 year old.

The Melbourne track also happens to be valuable preparation, as it is very similar in shape to the track at the Olympic venue. Chairman of the Hong Kong Cycling Association (HKCA) - Leung Hung-tak - was delighted with Lee's performance, saying the rider approached the event very seriously.

"This is her last event before the Olympic Games and a victory will certainly bolster her confidence," said Leung, talking to South China Morning Post. "Lee has been working extremely hard over the last couple of months in order to achieve a good result in Rio and we are eager to see her continue the winning feat," he further added.

The International Cycling Union Category 1 event was Sarah Lee's last chance to gauge her performance among the best before the Rio games, as now she will be heading back to China to train at the Guangzhou velodrome and in the mountains of Kunming.
