Michael Bay, Mark Wahlberg Out, Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox to Make Transformers 5 Come Back?

Michael Bay Turns His Back on Transformers 5, Sets Sights on “New Directions”

It seems Michael Bay won't be joining the fifth installment of Transformers. Mark Wahlberg, who starred in the highest grossing film in the series, has decided not to join the franchise.

In an interview with USA Today, Bay revealed that it's about time to "pass the baton for future Transformer (sic) movies while he turns his focus elsewhere."

"There's kind of a new chapter, a new direction in movies I want to make. I have a lot of stories to tell. And it's about flexing new muscles," Bay continued.

Rumors are now circulating that Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox might come back, although this could pose a challenge to any director who would take the reins in the set. Critics panned LaBeouf's performance, which could also make the audience feel hesitant to watch this film.

While the audience will definitely anticipate Megan's come back, she may have to choose between Transformers 5 and the next Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. Some Hollywood insiders believe that Fox would make a right choice with Transformers since the latter had already proven its box office mettle.

While Mark Wahlberg's decision not to appear in another Transformers film shocked both his fans and the film's followers alike, the actor was just being true to his words of never doing any sequel.

"Some people think of this as a sequel. We thought of it more as a stand-alone thing. I've never done a sequel," he said.

While Age of Extinction is technically far from being any sequel that he's done before, it still is the sequel to Dark of the Moon. That makes him half right after all.

Now that Wahlberg and Michael Bay had decided to call it quits, and with the possibility of LaBeouf and Fox's come back, do you think Transformers 5 will surpass the box office records?
