According to Asia-Basket, the 27-year-old American basketball reinforcement had a very remarkable game; scoring 46 big points and pulling 10 rebounds along with eight assists and four steals. Johnson, who was playing his first professional basketball game in China, went 17 for 32 from the field including four three-pointers from the 10 attempts he released from beyond the arc. The 6-foot-5 tall native of Monterey, California also made 8 of 12 from the free throw line as he played for 43 minutes in his debut game with the Rhinos.

With Sunday's victory, the Guangxi team has a 9-7 win-loss record and share the sixth and seventh spot with Hunan in the 14-team basketball league.  The addition of Johnson to the club's lineup would strengthen the team's backcourt and provide a solid offensive production.

According to the NBA, Johnson, who played for the University of California-Santa Barbara, was averaging 19.7 points and 5.8 rebounds in 34.4 minutes of playing time in the 31 games he played with the Gauchos in the 2011-12 NCAA season. He played for the New Orleans Pelicans and the Phoenix Suns in the 2015-16 season of the NBA.

Johnson is the 2012 NBA Draft 36th overall pick selected by the Sacramento Kings. However, he was immediately traded to the Indiana Pacers, where he appeared in a total of 89 games from 2012 to 2014. He also played in the Developmental League of the NBA, fitting in for Fort Wayne Mad Ants and Austin Spurs.
