The issue of finding a car space or dealing with parallel parking may not be a problem in the future anymore as Chinese inventors have introduced a new parking robot.

The automated valet called "Geta" (get a car) utilizes powerful lift motors that easily pick up cars after sliding underneath. Then it uses lasers to line up with an available space and parks your car even in the tightest spots. It is so efficient that it can save up to 40 percent of the space currently allotted to a car.

To save yourself from the hassle of parking, the upcoming flat green and purple Geta robot will do the parking job in just two minutes. What's more, it needs no tracks and can move 360 degrees, Shenzhen-based Yee Fung Automation Technology said.

"The parking robot is designed to increase parking space," Marco Wu, Yee Fung's CEO and one of the brains behind Geta, told Reuters. "The robot can go everywhere ... and will reform parking in the future."

With China expecting to have over 200 million cars by 2020, finding a suitable parking space will surely become a challenging task. However, Geta will make this task easier as the robot locates available spaces by transmitting signals to a computer with a map that then directs it to the empty slot.

As to how much these parking robots will cost, Wu said their price tags are over 1 million yuan ($150,000), and so far, there have been a lot of interests especially in cities where parking space is precious.

"There are many companies interested in our products, such as commercial property companies in Singapore and London, public parking companies in the Middle East, and developers, governments, as well as public parking companies in China," Wu said.
