Canada is hosting the Asian basketball powerhouse for three exhibition games that will be played until July 11. The 2015 Pan American Games champions will be facing China in their event opener at the Rio Olympics.  The two teams belong in Group B that includes Senegal, Serbia, Spain, and the United States.

According to The Province, forwards Tamara Tatham and Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe led the national Canada with 12 points apiece. Both players were dominant in the shaded area with seven and four boards respectively. Michelle Plouffe chipped in 11 points, and five other players managed to score at least six points.

"It has been a bit of our secret to our success over the last little bit. We've got the talent and the ability to have big performances," said head coach Lisa Thomaidis of Team Canada. "We had Tamara, Nayo, and Michelle all in double digits and we have everyone else chipping in some way. That's fun to watch, because teams can't key in on one or two athletes."

According to Edmonton Journal, China had a clear size advantage, but that did not stop the host team from dominating the boards. Canada won the battle for rebounds with an impressive 36-21 including a 13-3 advantage on the offensive boards.

Canada also registered 12 steals during the game and poured in 46 big points in the paint and a remarkable 29 points off turnovers.
