Taiwan-based tech company HTC is planning to create more than 10,000 virtual reality spots in mainland China this year. These virtual reality spots will serve as a marketing platform where users can enjoy full virtual reality experience using the HTC Vive virtual reality headset.

To make this plan a reality, HTC is collaborating with Suning Commerce Group and Gome Electrical Appliances, two of the biggest offline electronic retailers in China.

In a statement acquired by China Daily, HTC VR Business head Alvin Graylin said, "HTC VR demo stores will pop out in almost every public place over the next couple of months, in shopping malls, internet bars and in karaoke bars."

HTC announced its plans to expand in China just a day after the company successfully attracted 28 major venture capital firms to boost its research and development arm, according to China Tech News. HTC was able to secure a capital worth $10 billion from major venture capital firms like Sequoia Capital.

In the virtual reality platform, HTC is competing with Facebook's Oculus Rift and Sony, which is also slated to release its virtual reality headset dubbed the PlayStation VR.

Many tech analysts predict that shipments of virtual reality headsets will reach more than six million before the end of the year, 40 percent of that figure will go to Chinese consumers.

HTC's aggressive moves in the virtual reality market are part of its strategy to offset the decline of its smartphone division. In April, the company launched the $100 million Vive X fund to help developers and content creators to create content for the HTC Vive headset.
