Guillermo del Toro's blockbuster "Pacific Rim" has earned $100 million in China by the weekend of August 18th. The Hollywood science fiction film becomes the second movie this year to hit the $100 million at Chinese office box. The first one was "Iron Man 3" with a domestic office box of $120 million.

However, recently, a Chinese officer published an article in the PLA Daily. The PLA Daily is China-based media outlet for the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China. It covers news stories relating to the PLA and other military affairs.

In the PLA officer's article, he wrote: "The hit film 'Pacific Rim' doesn't convey a sense of peace. Conversely, it reflects the Asia-Pacific strategy of the United States."

He wrote, when the Japanese girl Mako Mori was rescued by American colossal humanoid war machines, Mori became a c pilot under the U.S.'s training. After Raleigh Becket, a washed-up Jaeger pilot teamed with rookie pilot Mako Mori in a last-ditch effort to defeat the Kaijus, Mako Mori hugged her American partner fondly and said: "I won't let you go." As for this scene, the Chinese officer said it would remind the audience of the US-Japan Alliance.

The officer added: "The decisive battle against the monsters was deliberately set in South China Sea adjacent to Hong Kong. The intention was to demonstrate the U.S. commitment to maintaining stability in the Asia-Pacific area and saving the mankind. When the Americans were busy saving the world, the people in Hong Kong were eating the monsters as delicacies, and were making Kaijus' meat, skin, internal organs and bones into food, medicine and arts. They are trying to disparage China."

He also thinks Hollywood movies "have always served as a propaganda machine to convey American values and their strategies in the world."

Right after the article was published, the news was bombed among Chinese readers. A netizen comment: "When does the PLA Daily begin to write film review? It's none of you business. Okay? It's just an awesome 3D film. Relax, guys! "
