Reeling contenders Henan Jianye FC (7-7-4, 25 points) are set to face rising squad Liaoning Whowin FC (5-6-6, 21 points) in a 2016 Chinese Super League season game at the Zhengzhou Hanghai Stadium on Wednesday, July 20.

Henan Jianye is currently on a two-game losing skid as they have also lost four of their last five matches following a five-game unbeaten swing. The team has now dropped to the seventh spot of the league table with Guangzhou overtaking them due to a superior goal difference despite the two teams being tied on points.

The Red Devils were crushed by a visiting Chongqing Lifan eleven, 0-3, also at their home field in Zhengzhou last Saturday as head coach Jia Xiuquan's men cannot seem to find the back of the opponent's goal, as per Soccerway.

Brazilian import Fernandinho, South Korean midfielder Jung Woo-young, and Argentine import Emanuel Gigliotti each scored a goal for Chongqing during the contest as Henan succumbed to a second straight shutout game.

Meanwhile, Liaoning Whowin was able to hold streaking powerhouse Shandong Luneng to a 1-1 draw at the Shenyang Olympic Sports Center Stadium also last Saturday, Ghana Soccernet reported.

The Northeast Tigers withstood the debut of former Southampton striker Graziano Pellè as they were able to prevent the Italy international from scoring.

Liaoning broke the game's deadlock at the 36th minute with a goal from winger Jin Taiyan off an assist by Zambian import James Chamanga before Shandong's Argentine midfielder Walter Montillo equalized it with a penalty kick at the stroke of halftime.

The draw is Liaoning's fifth unbeaten performance in their last six outings as they climbed to the 12th spot of the league table after being down in the bottom three for the past several weeks in the China top flight competitions.

Henan is raring to put a stop to their losing ways, but the momentum is on Liaoning's side in this match even if they are the road squad. The recent addition of former Werder Bremen striker Anthony Ujah is a big boost to manager Ma Lin's offense, but the game will be won on defense.

The predicted result is a close 1-0 victory for Liaoning Whowin.
