Chinese smartphone manufacturer Elephone recently unveiled the Elephone S7, a smartphone which many tech analysts have chided as a blatant copy of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. In fact, in a photo provided by Elephone, the device appears to be identical to that of the Galaxy S7 Edge, if not for the Elephone logo and the green color.

On the other hand, keen-eyed have observers pointed out some differences between the two smartphones. The Elephone S7, instead of having its rear camera sensor on the top center of the phone just like the Galaxy S7 Edge, has its camera sensor on the top-left corner with the LED flash right next to it.

A close-up look of the Elephone S7 photo also shows that the volume controls and power button are situated on the right side of the device. Perhaps the most noticeable difference between the two devices is that the Elephone S7 does not have the dual-edged AMOLED display.

Looking at the hardware specs, one can instantly tell the difference between the two. The Elephone S7 has the MediaTek Helio X25, a severely underpowered chip compared to the Samsung Exynos 8890 or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820.

Elephone recently unveiled a handful of details about its version of the S7. According to Giz China, the device will have a 5.5-inch display with Full HD resolution, 32GB of storage space, and 3GB of memory. It will have a fingerprint scanner just below the display panel.

The Elephone S7 will have a 16-megapixel rear facing camera and an 8-megapixel selfie snapper. According to Android Pit, the entry level model of the smartphone is priced at $99.99, while the top-end model costs $189.99.
