The new Xiaomi Mi Box with a 4K Android TV has been spotted on the website of Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and is expected to be launched in the United States soon.

According to Liliputing, the Mi Box is the first Android-powered device from Chinese-based company Xiaomi. It appeared on the FCC website with the model number MDZ-16-AB and will be available for purchase soon in the US. It was introduced during Google's I/O developers conference and is a small gadget that can be plugged into a TV to stream videos from the internet, listen to favorite music, and play games. The Mi Box supports 4K ultra high-definition content and the latest HDR standards. It can imitate a user's smartphone or tablet's display with its built-in Google Cast option. It also has a Bluetooth remote control that is capable of voice search. It features DTS Surround Sound, HDMI 2.0a, a UBS port, and Dolby Digital Plus.

The Mi Box is powered by a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 chipset with ARM Mali-450 graphics. However, based on the pictures of its circuit board and chips at the website, it is powered by an Amlogic S905X-H processor. It comes with a 2 GB of RAM and an 8 GB of internal storage.

There are no further official announcements from the company about the release date and prices of Mi Box, 9to5 Google reported. Rumours suggest that the new Android TV-powered 4K set-top box will be made available in other markets besides the US.
